This tiny photo was pulled from eBay after I won the bid on this Burt Rutan signed poster.

A fan of all things space related I'm creating a small space museum for the background of my small webcam studio. Before the end of the month "Retro Rocket" will hit it's 100 show on YouTube with a new look.

Grand Daughter Takes the Anger Away

Two dogs keep in a tiny pen, that were neglected and under feed got lose in my small town of Kingsville on Friday October 5, 2012 at night and attacked every dog and cat in town that they made contact with. The two dogs tried to kill "Panda" a small black and white dog that belongs to my son Micheal.

My youngest son was at work at the time when my daughter-in-law Amanda was letting the dogs out when the two neglected dogs attacked our family pet. Amanda is with child. My third grandchild.

As the two dogs tear at Panda and slam him into the ground, Amanda must get her small family pet away from the two Boxer mix dogs. A short time later I hear my daughter-in-law come in the front door of my parent's house. "Where's Robert ? I need Robert." My mother comes to the computer room as I am already in the hallway. "Oh Bobby, Amanda needs your help!"

I walk into the living room and see Amanda with the small frighten dog. Panda is covered in dog drool.
I look the dog over but can't find any wounds. I think about rabies as I turn the small dog over in my hands.

The next day Amanda takes Panda to an Animal Hospital and a Vet finds a long gash on the dog's back that both Amanda and I missed.

Yesterday, October 6th, I was angry most of the day. Not at the neglected dogs but at the owner of the dogs. I was angry at the town leaders for letting animals run wild in town and doing nothing when dangerous dogs get lose and attack family ( a cat was attacked next door and two dogs down the street)
pets.

I'm angry at the Johnson County Missouri Police who do as little as possible for the town of Kingsville.
I'm angry until my grand daughter comes back home from a visit with her cousin and the two of us make this video. She tells me not to be angry:)

Holden MO Mural Update June 5 2012

A Dragon over Mars

This was a hard video to make as I limit myself to 10 minutes a day making You Tube videos. I ended up with just 5 seconds of video I could use. I'm thinking of making my Retro Rocket videos no longer than 10 seconds each.

Reflections on the helmet dome caused all kinds of problems.

The Space X Dragon capsule with the red Earth background made me think of Mars. Thanks NASA and Space X and the ISS.

Got to Love the Space X

Long hours of stress on ladders painting murals has made cramps in my hands and slowed work on a graphic novel and other art projects. For some reason doing space videos calms my nerves,

The above video is my favorite of my space videos. I use black screen instead of blue or green screen for my space videos. Black screen doesn't need complex lighting set ups. I hide light bleeds in black backgrounds and with my tan hat.

Deer on a Mountain

This is a lucky photo of a deer on the Barr Trail on Pike's Peak. This photo isn't edited and happened when I was about to take a photo of my oldest son and his sister-in-law. My son Mark points to the deer as I turn in place and take the picture.

The Zoo and T-Ball

"I don't want to play T-Ball!"

My grand daughter and I are taking the long drive to the zoo and she has T-Ball practice after our outing.

"It will be fun, you should try it a while longer before you quit."

"Grand Dad, you never played T-Ball. You know nothing about T-Ball."

"I played baseball and that is something like T-Ball. We're at the zoo now we'll talk about this later."

The zoo was only opened for another hour when we got out of my car and unloaded Cordelia's new stroller. The big bike wheels and wide body of the stroller just fit inside my trunk. We saw a few animals and had a picnic lunch and rode the Merry Go Round three times.

On the way home I needed to pick up medicine for my mother.

more to come......

Murals in Holden Missouri

Why I've been absent from this blog for a while. The top photos are of the Unicorn Mural and the bottom photos are of the M. K. & T. Depot in Holden Missouri. These works in progress I hope will be done sooner than later.

Final version of my response to Spacevidcast

I'm still terrible onscreen but I'm getting better.

Shot this several times and wanted it to be more polished but I must get back to drawing on the Graphic Novel. Always best to put a time limit on webcam videos.

Response to Spacevidcast, 2, 19, 2012

Unedited footage (I started out in film & I still use that term) of a response to Spacevidcast on You Tube.

You can see me waiting for the video loop to cycle in the first few seconds. In editing I cut the front of the video off and added a title. In the finished video I didn't have a mouth as the video went widescreen and I decided the Sun, Saturn and Neptune didn't belong in the video.

I'll wait a day to reshot this video with more NASA footage of the Moon, Mars and Asteroids.

I was drawing concept pages for Desiree Nordlund's  graphic novel "The Recreators" but my father lost his balance and fell into a glass table. Thank God he wasn't hurt but this unnerved me and I switch to putting together this video.

Stress doesn't bother me in making videos but affects my drawings.

While this video was a failure it did calm me down enough to get back to drawing.

Red Tails isn't the greatest movie but I enjoyed it.

Cordelia is still having trouble focusing on camera but so am I.

I still have bad lighting in my studio and the wrong backgrounds.

I ham it up for the webcam and Cordelia fake punches me with her elbows.

I pretend we're in trouble for making silly movies........

Double Cordelia and the Monster Arm

Cordelia pops into my studio for a visit and we make another silly movie.

Lost Time

There is lost time in my lost time story. The plasma globe interfered with my computer and I couldn't turn off Photo Booth until I moved the globe away.

As I read a lot of UFO books as a kid I believe my Lost Time was just that, a gap in my memory. My imagination tried to fill that gap. The warts in a pattern of a "M" on my belly was a way for my mind to give me proof.

I've Lost It

I'm always losing stuff.

I Love Pop Out

Another silly photo booth movie. I'll be making over a hundred of these webcam movies to get my grand daughter use to taking directions. I have a small part in a feature I would like her to be in. With her parents permission of course. The moment it isn't play I'll stop making movies with her. Most of these movies will be under 10 seconds.

Video Grandpa #1

A silly family movie with very bad everything.

Time Cloak

The military has invisibility and now I've read about a Time Cloak. I can't say I understand the science at all of the story I read. Something about slowing light down to hide something.

I wonder how much is invented in secret only to be reinvented later in the public world?

Double Dogma

I have many bad pictures of myself. The above picture is of me with an insane smile on my face and my grandson bored with just another photo op. Looking at this picture I think of a question my oldest son once asked me when he was a boy.

"Do you believe in Science or Religion dad?"

"I don't believe in either one."

"What!?"

"One is the politics of faith and the other is the politics of facts."

"What do you believe in?"

"I believe in Imagination. That is much better than the double dogma that most people believe in."

Is your life eaten by the Jesus Fish or the Darwin Fish? Are you still fishing like me and using your imagination to think about what is really in the water of life?

Bad Light

People riot for high priced shoes made by child labor half a world away. Grown men keep child rape a secret for years because they worship a game. A fool thinks he's winning when all he is doing is eating his own ego. So much for the headlines of last year.

This year my government is banning the incandescent light bulb (100 watt) and I feel this is as dumb and vile as anything I read last year. Tomorrow I go to buy some LED bulbs as I hate the poor light from CFL bulbs.

The rest of this post is in the comments......

1977 to 2012

"Original" 1977 knock off poster.

2012 rework of poster using paste up of photos from movie. I limit myself to 15 minutes a day on this fan project. Very little of the first drawing will remain when I finish this version.

My plans for a 3-D model based on Jason Weatherly's blueprint.

Dropping The Ball

"Come upstairs and see this!"

"No thanks, I've seen ball lightning before. I'll stay in the basement."

The storm raged outside, filling the sky with the dance of light and the echo of thunder.

Somehow I get to sleep in the basement but I dream about the ball lightning.

more to come...
