I Love Pop Out

Another silly photo booth movie. I'll be making over a hundred of these webcam movies to get my grand daughter use to taking directions. I have a small part in a feature I would like her to be in. With her parents permission of course. The moment it isn't play I'll stop making movies with her. Most of these movies will be under 10 seconds.

Great Grandmother's Wig

My former wife Jackie Goss sent an email expressing concern that I wasn't posting on this blog for a while. I have been in a bad way for a while. My mind hasn't worked very well and I want to sleep 16 hours a day. I've just came down from the longest run of positive thinking in my life and I have a plan to get back there.

For a time I'm going to post pictures of my grandchildren. The children of the world are the only truth I can believe in for the moment.

I Like Robots Grandpa.

"I like robots Grandpa."

My Grand Daughter looks at me with eyes that say her world is bigger than Doll Houses and Dolls.

"I like dinosaurs too."

As a Grandpa I forget that girls can like anything and be anything today.

"I like robots and dinosaurs too. Would you like to play with some robot toys?"

"Yes Grandpa."

We play with some toy robots and the next day at a thrift store my Grand Daughter buys a Batgirl Doll and a 50 cent VHS copy of Jurassic Park.

Grandpas can be taught new ways to think about Grand Daughters and should be. Thanks Grand Daughter, lesson learned.

Why Leave Grandma?

I knew the day would come when I was asked the question.

Not yet four years old my Grand Daughter asked the question; Why leave Grandma?

I did not use the words "divorce" or "ex-wife" in my answer.

"Your Grandma Jackie and I still love each other but my love of art became too much for her and her love of pets became too much for me. So we parted friends. I am so happy I married your Grandma Jackie because she gave me my sons, your Uncle Mark and your daddy. Then the greatest joys of my life came when you were born and seven weeks later your cousin Denver."

She smiles and leans forward to give me a kiss on my right cheek and goes back to playing with her dolls.

She makes me a better person

I was given the gift of a Granddaughter and she has made me a better person. Before she was born I was quick to anger and now when I am tempted by my inner demons, I think of her and a calm comes over me.

"What would Cordelia think if she saw her Grandpa in anger?"

A few times she has seen me in anger and I was so ashamed of myself. She with my Grandson Denver are the miracles in the last pages of my life. There is nothing better than the laughter of your grandchildren.

I remember the second day of her life when I first saw her.

"I must become a better person."

She makes me a better person.

A Perfect Christmas

I am as tired as I've ever been. On Christmas day I played too hard with my Grandson Denver. I only get to see him twice a year and this is the first time he remembered me as his Grandpa Vollrath. I finally found something I'm a expert on. I am a good grandfather. No I'm not perfect at it but I try to be the best Grandpa I can be. All grandchildren are miracles of imagination.

My favorite Moment of the year is when I take a picture with my two Grandchildren on Christmas Day. The pictures are never perfect but the moment is always perfect.

The Snake Story

Part of me thinks the above video is funny and another part of me thinks it's just painful to hear. Turn your volume down if you dare listen to The Snake Story. This is the first visit from my Grand Daughter since she got her glasses, that she's worn the pink goggles for the whole visit. I love you Cordelia.

The Cordelia & Grandpa Show will have a set in part two. It will be a closed set too.
