1885

This is my Great Grandmother's Autograph Book she got for a Christmas present in 1885.

After looking at this and another family autograph book I'm thinking of writing some of my posts by hand.

You are so lucky to have these wonderful gifts handed down from your ancestors. Loved some of the simple poetry. All I have is an album I made up from photos I found in my mother's drawers for people to see at her funeral. I agree, its so important to see people's hand writing and its very seldom nowadays. You feel you can touch them through their written word.

I'm doing two hand written versions of this blog as letters to my Grand Children. I hope to bring back the original reason for autograph books.
To keep the friendship and love alive
in the written word.

This 1885 book belonged to my Great Grandmother who grew up in Rochester New York but was born in England.
