Happy Halloween
My two sons holding my grand babies. Mark is holding his newborn son and Micheal is holding his seven week old daughter.
I was going to post photos of my haunted house this night but here's a photo of Daddy Mike and his little girl.

King of Dreams
The great baby race is over. It wasn't a photo finish but both my grandchildren are winners.
Welcome the King of Dreams to the world. As his first day on the planet comes to an end let's welcome Denver Vincent Vollrath to Spaceship earth.
His girl cousin not to be outdone has returned from her world tour ( Disney World that is). Six weeks on the planet and she is already finding fun things to do.
I haven't held this young lad in my arms yet as he's busy running the northern kingdom of dreams but plans are under way for this newest of my branch of the Vollrath family to meet his Grandfather Vollrath.

Rad Rock
This little creature is undergoing a design change and is jumping from one graphic novel to another. My life is in chaos and so is my artwork. The lost of old friends who turned out not to be friends at all. I'm not starting any new projects, instead I'm finishing art that was put on a shelf for far too long. My old friends didn't understand what it meant to be an artist. They under valued my time and wanted to rule over me in both my art and what I should do to make a living. I've found new friends and a new direction for my life. Like this little rock creature I'm changing story lines.
It's time to see how far I can take my art.

Dreamers Shelter
I've always wanted to build my own home.
Last year at the Sculpt Fest at least one artist sleep overnight under her sculpture.
I was so inspired by this story that I decided to fake it in photos. Here I am pretending to be asleep with my head resting on a pillow of granite.
Here I am waking up to the mock morning.
My greatest fear as an artist is this is where I'll be living someday.

Wood, Rock and Twine
Eli Pupovac's sculpture became a creative magnet with most everyone adding to the details.
I added some wild flowers to the top and others hung small rocks from Heather Mathew's road trip collection.

Anger
This photo is of my first piece of abstract art called Anger. I found this blob of sprayed packing foam in the bottom of a large empty box that Dots Ice Cream was shipped in. I decided I wanted to paint the strange looking block of twisted foam and set it in my work area to take home later.
Then I found out one of my best friends had been fired at the place I was employed at and I became very angry. I had just finished painting a mural and had some of my paints sitting in the work area in front of the rectangle of foam. In two hours I had finished painting the foam in a fit of rage. One of my co-workers asked me what was the piece called. I stepped back from the piece and named it Anger. Seen here in the Midland trails gallery at the Holden Art Farm.
One of two pieces I have in a Group show that started on the 29th of Sept. 2007.
Strips of Wood
When I took these pictures at the Holden Art Farm, I didn't intend to create a sculpture at Sculpt Fest. I was going to take a few still pictures and then video tape the process of taking strips of wood and twine and creating sculptures from that but it looked like too much fun.
I left my video camera at home and jumped into the fun.
The Haunted House
I originally built this model as a window display for an art supply store I worked for. I'm going to finish this model before this Halloween and post a picture of the finished model on the night of trick or treating.
Every Halloween I try to finish this model of a haunted house and every Halloween I fail.
I'll post pictures of the haunted house here , Happy Halloween and Haunted House Progress.
Now I just need to finish this 20 year project.
